Man they get pissed at those meter guys for writing tickets, they could make a series of this enforcement too.

Adults get hit crossing Hwy 165 at night in Monroe about every other month. Five were killed in 2018.
The state is about to pay $440,000 of the $550,000 cost of lights for the area.

A problem Monroe City Engineer Kim Golden calls a critical need.
She said 33 lights will be placed between Century Boulevard and just south of Highway 15 to brighten the area.
"That's a very high vehicle traffic pedestrian traffic. High pedestrian traffic it's one of the main retail centers of South Monroe," said Golden.
Golden said the project is a partnership with the state.
"Because we are using the urban systems funding which is going to pay 80 percent of it, it is actually being handled by DOTD as if it were one of there projects," said Golden.
Meaning the city will have to pay around $110,000 of the estimated $550,000 construction cost. ...
