Just discarded a 30 and a 40 gallon electric for a tankless gas. Took me a bit to get the temp right, but now it's perfect. I have no bad things to say about it and I've yet to get my first electric bill with it. Go tankless.

Tankless. Only con is that it takes 20-30 seconds for the hot water to come out, but well worth it to have unlimited hot water. Tankless costs more to setup, but you'll save a little on utilities since tankless heaters are only heating when you're using it, but tank heaters keep heating water 24-7

Circulating systems provide convenient HW, but they work your heater more and help to increase your utility bill.

A tank with a circulating system is very inefficient.

Now it could be necessary in a large home with say one large water heater, but it will be expensive to operate.

Tankless for 14 years now, have only had to replace the temp sensors once over that stretch and that's on hard well water, I'd probably be on my 3 tank one by now, never planning to go back.
