Damn I wonder if that's where I'm at I don't dream at all. Just all of a sudden I'm out and then bang, back awake again for good after a few hours. Even during that 3-4 hrs of sleep, I wake up like 2-3 times in a typical night.

Guess we'll see how the whole thing goes.

sounds like a really cool and simple solution to a problem that has plagued us for generations!

how did you manage to be the first to try this out?

I went for a sleep study bc I got insurance that covered it. They said I was the worst of the 1%. REALLY BAD.

Doc said I was going to die of any number of things if I didn't do something fast. Like Reggie White from the Packers who died from a stroke while sleeping and not breathing.

I tried 3 different kinds of CPAP machines and got a half arse panic attack each time. SO, no fricking way.

UCSF has been working on this for 5 years and looking for the right test dummy. I was very willing. My life is hell.

Had one done in August and currently using a CPAP through Pacific Pulmonary. Will talk to them regarding this. Thanks for the info.

Any reason you chose to participate in the trial instead of opting for the current standard hyoid suspension techniques?

How does this device keep the tongue from obstructing the airway when muscle relaxation allows it to fall back? Looks like the device is placed below that level. I'm not at all convinced.

Don't sleep on your back and your tongue won't obstruct. Your tongue or base of your tongue is only part of the problem. The magnet opens your Airway no matter what your tongue is doing.

Can you feel it during the day?
I have a metal plate and screws on the front of c5 and I feel like there's a golf ball stuck in my throat most days.
How far open did they cut your throat?
Seems like a good solution if it works for you!

No I don't feel a thing. Also, I'm still doing new sleep studies and Gathering the info. But I have some other problem in my sinuses that is throwing the study off. So Joy

There have been other ways of doing hyoid suspension without placing a magnet in your body. You place anchor screws on the back side of the jaw and suspend the hyoid from those screws with non absorbable suture. It's a quick procedure, works, and doesn't require a magnet in your body.

I'm just skeptical of the future overall use of this device compared to what's out there now.

Yes and so do the other hyoid suspension techniques.

Just saying, cool device and glad it's working for you.
