re: New MTV show publicly shames white people for “What they've done to America”

And whose fault is that? Certainly not the people putting it together. They spread the word as best they can. But that doesn't get ratings so it doesn't show. Not their fault. They put out calls on radio on social media but hey you can't get a camera crew down when their is good work being done.
The problem is that's what gets people's attention. Sometimes you have to put some support behind things that don't really matter in order to get some attention on the things that do.

I didn't say it was anyone's fault. I agreed with most of your last post. I'm not trying to fight with you. I am trying to show you that not all white people are racist uncaring bigots. And you can have conversations with them without it getting out of control of changing their perception of you. Although the obnoxious racist at your company may be too far gone for help. I'd say he's far from normal
I can throw some blame at Jackson and Sharpton and Obama if you would like me too as I've never seen them so much as mention the things we've been talking about. They are some of the absolute shittiest political and public figures I can imagine.

Insurance policies rarely cover riot damage, brah.

Sharpton is an idiot and only concerned about his money as is Jesse. Obama, I honestly can't really expect to say anything. He has to play to politics. He has to play the game the way it's played.

I might be inclined to agree with you if the things that really mattered ever got attention after a bullshite media bomb. But they dont. And the more seeming and publicized support shown for these causes that don't matter the harder and deeper the wedge is driven between race relations and I'd argue it in fact has the opposite effect. It draws attention and resources further from these causes that need it and it turns so many people off to the whole community in general.

I agree. Obama has the world's attention. He could give a speech that wasn't pandering catering crap with zero message or meaning, but after watching him for 8 years now I'm firmly convinced he is either incapable or unwilling to have a thought not generated on a teleprompter and prepared by someone else.

I know not all white people are bigots. Most are really just plain ignorant. They don't know nor do they care too. Their safe living in their bubble and letting TV dictate how they think.
They say things that they don't realize have meaning for some people. Most aren't willing to learn and listen but there are those that do.

Can we agree that this applies to most people in the country regardless of race, gender, or status?

Yes it does. The masses are sheep and puppets.

I'm curious how you'd feel if a white person said that most blacks are ignorant?

I'm going to bed dude. I hope you either get promoted out of your current situation or you find a new job. At the very least, I hope that guy leaves.
I'll leave you with this:
Don't give up on white people. Some of us hate being generalized and lumped in with extreme morons as much as you do.
And don't get riled up as knuckle heads come in here to nitpick things you or I said out of context just for the sake or being assholes

Ignorant was a bad choice of word... I'll go with unaware.

Man, I don't hate white people at all and I haven't given up on them. I know that most of Yall are good people. I'll also leave with this. If a person of color is telling you their experiences about anything. About how it's views through their eyes, don't automatically just dismiss it. Just listen and ask questions and just see how they feel. You'd be surprised at what sort of answeres you get. A little empathy would go a long way in both sides

You didn't answer the question.

Usually empathy means "agree with me." I'm well aware of the plight of poor folks of all races. I understand cultural problems that can keep them poor. However, "white guilt" is a crock. We're judged as individuals.

How could they go from quality programming like Jersey Shore and Teen Mom to this?

I'm gonna steal this post from another board that I feel really hit the nail on the head in regards to this topic.

As for the 'double standard' for Christianity - I think its the pendulum swinging back the other way. For countless years it was swinging the opposite way. Just like racism, sexism.. if you truly want to land in the middle, you have to let the pendulum swing back a little bit, or it won't ever find a resting point. I'm white. I had no part of slavery, no part in denying woman's sufferage, and no part in paying women less money then men. But being a white male, I know I'm going to be seen more negatively and it sure isn't going to help for me to profess how my rights to political correctness are different than groups that have historically suffered. You deal with it and hope progress continues. But you can't really complain about the double standard when the group you are a part of was responsible for a lot of oppression, your fault or not.

MTV is the new BET
#BlackTwitter is Coming to MTV
#BlackTwitter is Coming to MTV

MTV saw an opportunity to make money off of Black Twitter and it will be coming to the network on Friday. Charlamagne Tha God will be hosting “Uncommon Sense” on MTV2.
Now, will this be filled of $200 date discussions? Or other aspects of Black Twitter that includes activism and commentary?
Sure black Twitter is filled with oneliners and funny moments, but there’s also the aspect of it that includes things like #blacklivesmatters and #BringBackOurGirls. What would really suck would be if MTV2 only focused on one aspect of the social media phenomenon.
Black twitter has proven to bring in revenue for companies and tv ratings. But it also has proven to bring mainstream attention to things that have affected Black people.

Disagree. White Guilt is a fricking cancer.

Who said anything about guilt? Nothing wrong with acknowledging wrongs done in the past and how it may impact the present. There is a gray space between "guilt" and being a condescending prick like many in this thread believe it or not.
