New Horizons space probe had a problem - data collection suspended UPDATE

I really hope this all gets ironed out before the Pluto flyby...

Good news for the update:

NASA’s New Horizons space probe, 10 days from a one-shot encounter with enigmatic Pluto, stopped collecting science data Saturday after a technical problem interrupted the spacecraft’s tightly-choreographed flight plan.
Engineers at the New Horizons control center in Maryland lost contact with the distant spacecraft for nearly an hour-and-a-half Saturday. The controllers restored communications with New Horizons via NASA’s Deep Space Network antennas at 3:15 p.m. EDT (1915 GMT), according to a status update posted on the mission’s website.

The investigation into the anomaly that caused New Horizons to enter “safe mode” on July 4 has concluded that no hardware or software fault occurred on the spacecraft. The underlying cause of the incident was a hard-to-detect timing flaw in the spacecraft command sequence that occurred during an operation to prepare for the close flyby. No similar operations are planned for the remainder of the Pluto encounter. “I’m pleased that our mission team quickly identified the problem and assured the health of the spacecraft,” said Jim Green, NASA’s Director of Planetary Science. “Now – with Pluto in our sights – we’re on the verge of returning to normal operations and going for the gold.”

Why on multiple occasions do they specify "science data." In the opinion of this scientist (granted I'm currently a bit drunk and in Denmark), all data is science data and to use this term seems a bit uneducated. I mean I can see if it's still sending back flight info, but its collection systems are the only thing malfunctioning specifying this "science data" term, but it still seems like a stupid word choice.

What's it going to fly by? They took Pluto down a few years ago cause it's not a planet anymore.

It wasn't collecting ANY data while in safemode, beyond information on the probe's speed, trajectory, etc.
