At one of my wife's former schools there was a fellow teacher there who was married to the grandson or great grandson of Enola Gay's bombardier on the Hiroshima mission.

Dutch Van Kirk (navigator) spent the last decade or so of his life in metro Atlanta and was active in the Atlanta WW2 Roundtable until his last couple of years.

When our daughter was in the hospital for a couple of weeks after she was born, one of the doctors had a grandfather that served on Tinian during the atomic bomb flights.
