The only problem? Absolutely not. There are loads of problems with my post.

Sadly I don't have an answer.
It sickens me to see events like today. I think we have several big factors in our society right now that have led to a decay that will be very hard to fix.

Not how you think of it. Where do they refer to state militias? The militia that is referred to in the 2nd amendment is not in any way he national guard or pentagon today. It's about an armed populace being able to take action whenever necessary. The bill of rights is not the government guaranteeing rights to itself, but to the people.

I think the answer is right in front of our noses. NOTHING. It is what it is. and BOTH sides use events like this to stir the pot

You are correct. Gun shows are full of overpriced piece of shite guns and terrible reloads, but not convicted felons looking for murder weapons.

At the risk of pissing people off, I am going to share an observation I had today when watching the shooter's POV video.
When the gun was in frame it looked just like any number of video games available today, including some I played when younger (Doom).
I don't say that to pick on anyone, nor bash gamers. However I do think our society is awash in violence from almost every corner. I hope that those of us here are well balanced, however there are segments of society whose outlooks are influenced by the constant exhibition of cheap death.
Just my opinion.

This is it. Instead of wasting time and resources regulating what is essentially a muffler for firearms, the difference between a stock or not, etc., the ATF needs to restructure themselves to put resources into bothering people that aren't following current laws.

Obviously you aren't operator. Anyone without proper training instantly turns into a retard without fine motor skills, rendering them completely unable to reload. Magazine limits prevent mass killings.

i only have a shotgun and a rifle. neither have been shot in years. they were hand me downs. so technically, i don't see myself as a "gun owner". Never hunted, don't really feel comfortable around them and I'm cool with that. But I've been thinking more and more about taking a course and getting a pistol. I have young kids. that's the only thing stopping me
Question: Where do you hide a gun in a house with kids that's out of reach from them, but still conveniently located if you "need it"?

That's a loaded question. I have a 2 1/2 year old and have guns in every room of my house with the exception of his. There is at least one fun in each of my vehicles as well. The more the children know about gun safety, the better off you and they will be, IMO.
My first gun was a 20 gauge shotgun that I got when I was 6 years old. The first time my Dad took me to shoot it, he taught me a lesson that I will never forget. He walked up to a small tree (about six inches in diameter) and tried with all of his might to pull it down. I thought my Dad was a Superhero and he told me to watch this. Next, he shot the tree with one shell and it fell to the ground to display the power of the gun. He told me that once you pull the trigger, you can never take it back.
That said, I will make it a point to make sure my son is aware of guns, their use, how to handle them, and how to defend himself. I understand the concern of gun safety around children and make sure that my firearms are always stored in a safe place that can't be jeopardized by a young child.

Maybe I'll get a SPAS-12 or some other high capacity shotgun and he'll be cool with it.
Which brings up another bit of underhanded lefty bullshite, the banning of "high capacity magazines." That's just a de facto ban of the majority of semi-automatic weapons, isn't it?

I learned how to shoot when I was four years old. I'm not sure how young your kids are, but as long as you're responsible it won't be an issue.
I don't have kids, but if I did, I would look into a good biometric safe for anything I relied on for self defense. The rest can be kept in the gun safe.

Honestly, things like "high capacity magazines", "assault weapons", "mass violence", etc. are terms that they use to scare up some support from the uneducated masses. I don't consider myself a "gun nut", but I am a Marine and a patriot and it bothers me that so many are ready to give up their rights for the illusion of safety promised by these idiots.
