What the hell is wrong with Breitling?
Look, watches are a personal preference thing. Breitling's are fine watches. The beauty of a Panerai is in its simplicity.

I wanted to get together, take some pictures and do a writeup on it for my watch forum.

I've always enjoyed having a nice looking watch on my wrist--it's really the only piece of jewelry a man can get away with pre-marriage. I had always just rocked $50 Fossils that looked good to me. Then I read a thread on here recommending a Citizen Eco. Got one for Christmas--loved it. Still do. It's the only one I still have a bracelet on.
Then, about 6 months ago, my buddy who makes a very nice living along with his wife, really introduces me into this world I didn't know existed. He's making a lot of money in his mid 30s without any children, so he developes expensive new habits and tastes occasionally. He was really into pocket knives for a while and his bourbon collection is ridiculous. But I had no idea this watchophile world existed until I mentioned I liked his watch at his house one evening sipping his way too expensive bourbon. I think it was a blue Squale on a leather NATO, but it caught my eye. He says "hold on," and goes in the back and brings back a box of no less than 20 watches with no less than 100 other straps, unattached. I was floored. He sold me a Batman Seko that he never wore for $60 and threw a nice blue/white NATO strap to go with it.
It's a cool watch, because not only does it look good, but what most would consider the second hand doesn't move on this watch, so it gives the illusion of being an automatic instead of quartz. Which I also didn't understand, so he gave me about an hour lesson on brands, movements, prices, etc...he also gave me a black and gray NATO. What? You can change out bands that easily and make it look like a whole new watch? I was hooked after the 2nd day of wearing it. Had to learn more--had to BUY more.
I'm not a baller like a lot of you in this thread. I can't imagine spending several grand on just one watch. Not that I wouldn't if I could, I just can't. But I'd rather have several different "nice"(for the price) ones anyway. I'm addicted to the shopping, the looking, the research, finding the best deals. I've got a couple Seikos and Orients now, but a pretty insatiable obsession. I'd rather have 5 $200 watches than 1 $1,000 one.
But now, I finally I get why these threads pop up so much and why there are so many forums dedicated to it.
Anyway, way too long, my apologies. But I enjoy the hell out of these threads now.

I gotcha. Wish I could help. I'll post some pics of the exhibition case back when I get home. It's one of my favorite parts about that watch. I'll be in BR in a couple of months. If you want to meet up let me know.

I would like to do that if you can spare an hour. It's a watch you don't see out in the wild really ever so I wanted to jump on this chance if possible. This is the forum I want to do the piece for:

Do you really need a 6K watch to make you feel better about yourself?

Be careful. Once you dip your toe in the water gets deep quick. Hahahah. I agree, the journey leading up to your purchase is part of what makes the experience so great.

You're a fool if you think this is why we buy expensive watches. Actually I have found that the majority of people here just buy what they enjoy. Whether that is $40 or $40,000. And this place is pretty supportive of people enjoying them at all price ranges. Banging hot bitches makes us feel better, not watches.

Cant be serious with this? you do realize that Breitling has watches that are as much or more than Rolex right?
Rolex is a timeless classic watch but Breitling is 100% in the same class. And your statement is ignorant as hell.

I've purposely stayed away from Rolex. I like them. I just wanted something different from the masses. I know Gaston is the same way. But I think I can afford a Rolex.
