I get it BUT you are forgetting about the 2 greens
Posted on 12/6/14 at 1:34 pm to lsu480
Not forgetting at all... Green = screwed
Posted on 12/6/14 at 1:36 pm to BACONisMEATcandy
Right which is why it's better to do red and black vs the 1/3rds...think about it. If it isn't instantly clear why that's a better bet Google it!

You're just as screwed with betting red or black and it hits green

It isn't. All bets other than ones specifically betting on the green numbers or a combo of them and others have the same long term return.
Odds are basically calculated as paying and pretending the 0/00 isn't there(thats where the house gets money when one of those gets hit.)
So 1/3 bets pay off 2 to 1. 1/2 bets pay off 1 to 1. Single bets pay off 35 to 1. Double bets pay off 17.5 to 1

Of course but you can win with 1/2 the numbers vs 1/3, minus the greens. Since you have the same amount of greens in each it's better to go with more numbers. I'm probably not explaining it right but its obvious to me you have better odds with an odd/even or black/red bet than a 1/3 bet.

Some of the best odds in the casino is red and black.

Ya but the greens ARE there. With no greens I would be agreeing.

Maybe in Europe where they use only one zero

Oh I get what you're asking now. Hope someone can explain it. But by this theory, then your best odds would be a huge bankroll and betting on 35 of the 36 numbers.

Well of course the odds of red and black are better that's why they pay less

No, not at all!
I'm saying the 50/50 bets are the best

Just google it and you will see an explanation better than I can provide.

Only fish play roulette. There's a reason the house comps more pre hour for roulette than any other table game. Head to the craps table and bomb the frick out of the pass line. That or play the banker in baccarat.

You're not factoring the payout. Thirds pay more.

Roulette is a lot more fun than baccarat.
Craps is where it's at though. It's amazing how many people I know to the casino and don't know how to play and stick to blackjack or roulette

I am factoring that in. They pay 3x, red/black plays double. I swear you guys are not thinking about the greens, I wish I put in in an equation.
