Where did you get the timer? They probably will take it back.
If I sell a new timer, then it's returned, it's no longer new. I cannot sell it as new, and cannot use it as new. It went from being worth what it was worth, to being worth less than half of wholesale.
People who sell parts expect you to know that is the EXACT part you need to complete repair.
Sucks, but the way it is with electronic parts. A good tech will eat the parts cost if he misdiagnoses.

Run the dryer and stand there until to stops. Wait and listen carefully and see if you hear a click. Try starting again, and if it starts, it is probably the motor overheating, causing the motor safety switch to cut out. You can try cleaning the lint off the motor possibly. On most machines, you cannot buy just the switch, and will need to replace the motor itself.
this man has it.
If not the door switch, it's the motor. One of those two things.
But a new timer and a new motor that unit would last a long while. Sucks you are in B-ham. I have five motors in stock and I only like to keep three, I would probably dump two of them for $45 each.

Apologize for disappearing but thanks Napoleon! I had some things pop up and have been away. I will give that a shot today.

your dryer is one of the better made units. No matter the issue, I would fix it.

Hey napoleon just found time to work on the dryer. So the timer is good the lid switch works (I opened the door, the switch has an audible click), held it down and started the dryer. It ran for no more than two seconds and shut off.
So we've narrowed it down to a bad motor. I'm going to check for continuity.
