DON'T DO IT!!!

Just kidding, I didn't know what to do after high school and here I am 15 years later on a never-ending deployment that has pulled into zero ports in 200 days.

He will have to renounce in order to move forward with a clearance, not too hard. But make sure he has a guaranteed rate, and a good one at that, before signing anything. Too many people are getting screwed with this PAC program where you choose your rate later. Also, tell him to take the DLAB and he'll up his chances of picking up a crypto job and going to the defense language institute.

FWIW, I was on the WYOMING with a sonar tech that did the 2 years of obligated service in the German Navy before he came stateside and served in the US.

Toured that boat when they ported in PCAN while I was in Orlando. They were berthed next to a British destroyer.

Wyoming test launched a missile off PCAN prior to coming into port.

Really cool experience

People regularly imagine Down Periscope size submarines until they walk on a boomer and are amazed. The sheer fact that you can't even fit one inside of a football stadium makes it all that much more impressive. I went to PCAN once on WEST VIRGINIA, never seen so many guys blow through money at a port call 2 hours south of homeport. Idiots

I went to see Army, Air Force, and Navy recruiters. Army recruiters seemed like THEY didn't want to be in the Army. Air Force seemed like they were not even in the military, Navy recruiter showed me pics of topless girls from the South Pacific.

Unfortunately, the Army had the best tuition deal...

I would rethink the going to college first when he can have them pay for it. Also if he decides to do the Navy as a career I would deff recommend doing it as an officer. There are (at least when I was in) a few enlisted to officer programs he can apply for but He would have to research the requirements for that. As far as clearance goes not sure about that. I was in the engine room so we were to dumb for any special clearance lol. As far as learning a trade I would suggest choosing a rate in the engineering department. That would be your mechanics and electricians as far as hands on trades go. Good luck to him and thanks for his service.

I have two sons in the Navy currently. Big Navy is a shitshow right now. They are about as woke as Portland. I would not recommend joining, at least not right now. Unless of course you are a left veering marxist, in that case, step right up.

You cannot get a clearance with a dual citizenship.

I was a Navy recruiter two years ago.

You will have to give up the non US citizenship
