I'm going to Natchez to play in a golf tourney at Beau Pre this weekend. Never been there.

The greens are covered in Poa Annua, have fun, great course though.

Cotton Alley was our best meal. Almost forgot that. The last night. We came upon it while walking and liked the menu.

Fat Mama's had pretty good tamales.

we didn't try the others. We tried a place by the river, and didn't like it and a place further out from town.

Its been a couple of years. I did a review on the food board.

We love getting away to Natchez for a couple days. It's an easy drive up 61. The wife and I generally stay at the Dunlieth or the Natchez Grand. We hit Steampunk for coffee, Slick Rick's for lunch, and either Pearl Street pasta or Cotton Alley for dinner. If we are staying at the dunlieth, we get breakfast at the castle. If we aren't staying there, we will go to natchez coffee company and get breakfast. Then we generally head back home. It's usually just one night where we don't have to feed, bathe, and put screaming kids to bed.

So Vidalia schools must not be all that great?

No, Vidalia has really great schools. They are getting crowded more and more bc of so many young ppl with families are moving across the river to put their kids in them. And DC was NOT created strictly for Ferriday kids. It was created for Concordia Parish kids. It's a good school. I like it bc it's small and they don't put up with a bunch of bs. The teachers are pretty good, but they are forced to teach Core and just like most other public school teachers they really don't care for it, generally. My kids like DC because of their friends and the closeness of everyone there, but they have a lot in Vidalia, too.

Many of the powers-that-be in Vidalia don't like DC because they're threatened by it. They feel like DC is taking away the best students from the old established pub schools. I can understand their concern, even though I don't think that's fully true.

We spent a long weekend in Vicksburg/Natchez, and had a great time in both locations. We toured some old homes in Natchez, and quite frankly we like going to out of the way places that aren't overrun with tourists.

Are all gorgeous - I'm not knocking Natchez, because I can kind of see your point to a degree, but it just isn't in the same league as those 3. I can't speak to Fredericksburg, TX.
