What do you do exactly? Just own properties and rent them out? Why is it so much more profitable in Louisiana?

It's crazy how many people are listing my hometown-Grenville, SC as top place. I lived there long enough to know there is only so much one can do there. I'd put Chattanooga over it anyday

About 20 years ago, a group of Greenville movers and shakers spent a couple of days in Chattanooga, came back and essentially said they wanted to model downtown Greenville like Chattanooga... the start was getting some retail in downtown, then the bridge, and the downtown replica baseball stadium of Fenway Park.

1. Nashville: great mix of fun and unique along with a strong economy.
2. New Orleans: love the history, food, music, and built environment. Nola would be in the top spot if not for the crime and poor infrastructure.
3. San Diego: America's finest city. Love that weather.
4. Alexandria, VA: Great suburb of DC that has its own sense of place.
5. A few Carolina cities in the mix for the fifth spot: Charleston is historic but small and a bit isolated. Raleigh is pleasant and family friendly, but can feel a little bland. Charlotte is a nice midsize city but kind of corporate. All are nice places.

Cookie cutter

People who use thus term usually live in big block buildings with cookie cutter apartments.
