Louisiana has higher insurance rates than many states with more liberal court systems.
I get the point you’re trying to make, but eventually you have to ask yourself why this is the case.
Seems to me that the issue ultimately boils down to two things:
- Insurance profit margins in LA compared to other states
- Insurance costs in LA compared to other states
If the insurance companies are pulling in higher profit margins in LA, then that’s certainly where the focus should lie. If their costs are higher in LA, then again the question becomes - why? Do we have more accidents, or are we just more litigious?
If it’s a combination of cost and profits then I guess we are getting fricked on both ends. I’m sure there is very detailed analysis on this topic out there, but it’s nearly impossible to find an unbiased source.
