I must be the only person who has ever had a bad experience with USAA. They've absolutely screwed me over twice (about 20 years apart).

I have had homeowners insurance through UPC for several years. My neighbors all around me had been getting their roofs replaced through their insurance carriers, and suggested that I should try.
Adjuster comes out, takes pics, submits report, application denied! Tried again with a different adjuster, rejected again! Just paid $15 grand out of pocket for new roof!
The cheapest insurance is not always the beat insurance!

+1

Auto insurance claim and roof damage claim (Hurricane Michael).

Not impressed.

You have to be active, retired, or kids of the two for membership. Keeps out some of the riffraff that would drive claims up.

I have no military affiliation and have USAA. They called me years ago and offered Insurance and I signed up.

I had a good experience with USAA when my mom totaled my car. I do think they tried to trap me with casual conversation once "yada yada yada by the way, how often does your mom drive your car?" I knew my policy though and knew that if someone drives it more than 15 days out of the year, they're supposed to be on the policy. I figure they would have denied coverage if I told them she drove it all the time but it was actually the one and only time she ever drove it.
