It doesn’t bother me and it shouldn’t bother others, but it does and bothers them a lot. Why would you do this? It’s so dumb to me. You know it’s going to attract negative attention. Do people just like this attention?

I don't see it going anywhere. We've got real problems to deal with in this country, nobody is going to waste time giving a shite about a flag.

well, considering he's a published civil war historian who has written multiple books on confederate cemeteries and other things i think he damn well has a right to select this license plate.

eta its amazing how easily people willingly give in because someone might feel 'uncomfortable' with something that's their own property.

I guess you had your head in the sand when the U.S. Supreme Court last year held that the state of Texas could keep the symbol off its license plates, after several appeals courts said states could put it on (including Tennessee).

So yes, it's now on borrowed time.

That's not a confederate flag, that's a confederate battle (rebel) flag.

Good, be proud.

Like I said, I don't care what's on someone's license plate, but I personally just wouldn't want the negative attention it could bring. I would be worried to park my car and leave it somewhere with heavy foot traffic with that, like downtown, which I do often.

I'm not losing any sleep over it though.

You're completely missing the point.

ETA:

Its not THAT they are bothered, its their REACTION to being bothered that I just wouldn't feel like dealing with. But that's just me.

Whatever floats your boat.

Of the Son's of Confederate veterans? I mean what else are they going to change their symbol to?

Also, it's not that big of a deal.

Agreed.

But I can't do anything about it so in the meantime I'm going to limit the bad energy in my life...whether brought by me or someone to me.

well duh.

my point is its a state-sanctioned option just like the LSU plate or the I LOVE PETS plate.

eta oh thats right. the LSU TN alumni cant get their shite together & get enough people together to make an LSU plate. i should say BAMA plate or landmass plate.

Im a Son of Confederate Veterans. And a Son of the Republic of Texas.

We had letters from Austin and Houston that were written directly to my relative, but termites destroyed most of them.

I'm sure...these people complain about fricking everything.

And I'm sure it would be a lightning rod for negative attention in a parking lot with a ton of drunk pedestrians around...like in downtown Nashville.

Idk. I don't care. I just wouldn't do it. I like my car to be like Switzerland...neutral as fugg. Had mirrors snapped off just for LSU sticker before.
