If you ever pull up a New Orleans murder map you’ll see why if people are wanting to live in New Orleans it’s a good spot. Lakeview, like most of ORLEANS parish, has seen an incredible rise in real estate prices since Katrina. If you purchased 5+ years ago your home value has increased dramatically, especially when compared to Jefferson parish.

I think people taking advantage of road home money to completely gut and rebuild homes, if not build new homes has a lot more to do with the increase in property values. Most homes in Lakeview now have new everything and having shopped the market years ago it seemed like nobody spared any expense when rebuilding.

With that said, you pay extra taxes for LCPD, which are NOPD officers that you already pay taxes for. There are still abandoned and blighted properties. The roads still look like shite and need a off-road vehicle just to drive down the street. Crime is encroaching into the area. Your city government is still run by morons and from the looks of it, will continue down that path.

That’s simply not true. In the last 5 years, Lakeview prices have been stagnant. About 10 years ago, both Lakeview and Uptown were around $200-$225/ft. The established parts of Uptown are well above $300/ft as are the good sections of Old Metairie. Lakeview is still in the $225/ft range.
