Providing an update as I want to make sure I thank all of you for your feedback and help.
I ended up getting a U-Haul and taking Highway 90 to New Orleans and I am just finishing getting things out of my apartment. On my way I saw the devastation through Houma and the surrounding area. It was extremely humbling. My landlord is a real piece of work, and this whole process of moving out in the days following Ida have been very stressful, however, at the end of the day I am heading back to Lafayette to a roof over my head. I know that is not the case for a lot of the individuals whose homes I passed on my trip this afternoon.
Y’all pray for those who are truly affected and are at the beginning of a very long way to recovery. Help in anyway that you are able. My landlord may be a jerk but I know that he does not reflect how great the larger population of our state can be when we come together. A lot of our neighbors will need help in the coming days weeks and months.
Heading back to Lafayette now on I 10. Again, appreciate everybody’s help.
