re: Movie hookups that would now be considered rape IRL based on recent history

Soooo many movie scenes like the one you mentioned would be viewed as stalking if there wasn't cheesy music playing in the background

Many of the 007 hookups started without consent but it was a quick transition to "yes." Still, in today's court Bond would be crucified

Not a movie, but I'd be surprised if another character like Sam Malone ever made it on TV again.
He would go to his black book everytime he needed a slumpbuster and he kept pursuing chicks that told him no. Not to mention, he smacked Diane early in the series. All of it got laughs, too.

What about romantic acts that would be considered stalkerish in real life?
This may be the earliest spoof of movie-style romance.

One of my wife's favorite movies involves a woman stalking a man she heard on the radio. This is considered a popular romantic comedy at the time.
They made a slightly more modern version with the same actors where he stalks her back except now he mind fricks her online first.

White Christmas is pretty rapey.

Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) carrying Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) up the wide staircase against her will. Next morning, she's practically glowing.
Yeah, they were married, I know. He still fricked her against her will.

I don't recall that episode
There is a very, very strange episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show where Sally dates a guy who says he says he has trouble with women and stops seeing her. In the last scene it's revealed what his problem is: "I like to hit women".
He says this matter of factly, and it's accepted as almost routine by Rob and even Laura, who is also present. He certainly isn't made out to be a villain. I can't help but think this must have seemed odd even in 1964.

Surprised no one said Rocky. She doesn't want to go in his house but he convinces her to, then when she legit tries to leave he puts his hand on the door to prevent her from leaving. Then he moves in to kiss her and she pretty much doesn't move out of fear.

In The Office when Jan hooks up with Michael the first time, she was drunk and regretted it the day after. That's rape even though he was also drunk.
She actually accused him of putting something in her drink the next day. That's when the audience knew with certainty that Jan was not just annoying, but seriously bad news for Micheal.

OK it's coming back but how did it start? Did she slap him first and it became a contest? It wasn't like she mouthed of and he gave her a black eye.

That's actually a pretty good one. I mean, leading up to that scene, you already know Adrian likes him, she's just deathly shy. But when you describe it that way...

I think she was trying to quit for one of umpteen times and they began trading insults before the slapping.
And yeah, I didn't mean to insinuate he pummeled her, but for the purposes of this thread, I can't imagine such a scene would ever be allowed on a network sitcom these days.

A response to some of the false accusation stories about rape posted on the OT.
For instance I hate the concept of 16 & pregnant or whatever tf it's called but I hate it fundamentally for the way it glorifies a non-desirable life situation, and I'd rather post about it here, not in the movie/TV board bc I'm not commenting on the show concept I'm commenting on how effed up it proves our society is.
