This has 48 Hours Written All Over It
Sheriff Julian Whittington confirms two bodies found in the Red River Thursday morning around 9:30 a.m. about 12 miles south of the Highway 2 bridge in Plain Dealing.
Bossier deputies have been working 14-hour days for the last two weeks trying to locate Jennifer and Coty Wilson, mother and son, who are believed to have jumped from the Highway 2 bridge two weeks ago after their abandoned vehicle was found in the middle of the bridge.
Bossier Parish Coroner will determine identity and cause of death, and that information will be forthcoming. For now, Sheriff Whittington believes that these are the Wilsons, and it appears that their deaths were by suicide. Again, confirmation will be determined by the coroner.
Sheriff Whittington and deputies are here at the Cash Point RV Park where deputies have been launching boats for the last few days.
In addition to the note from Ms. Wilson in her car, a note from her son was found at another location, Davis said. He described the notes as "goodbye notes" and not suicide notes. We would not disclose the contents
Ms. Wilson was pending arrest, authorities said, and her son had been arrested for obstructing the investigation, was facing more charges and was under pressure to cooperate. Ms. Wilson's husband, Gary, is facing eight charges including insurance fraud, racketeering and arson-related charges and is jailed under $825,000 bond.

No kidding. Your problems (family, financial, etc) can essentially evaporate once you leave the border.

How does a coroner determine suicide or not in this instance?

Damn. I grew up there. Could've been me.

Probably more to this story. Sad.

I knew a guy who went to prison for insurance arson and ended up being Billy Cannon's roommate at Club Fed. Nice enough guy who made a bad mistake and did his time. Seems to be making it alright now. These folks will never have a chance to start a new chapter.

Wouldn't this be the best way to disappear? Write a suicide note, leave your car on a bridge, throw your phone off of the bridge, and just roll out to Mexico or something.
