Johnny's Pizza... the best! I make sure to gorge myself on a pepperoni party pizza every time I visit (which, thank god, isn't that often!).
Pecanland Mall... first time I went there they had a carousel and it was the definitely the place to skip school. I remember my friends shoplifting from Suncoast and The Underground.
Bars/clubs... man, they changed names so many times! Cooter Bay, Top Gun, The Honky Tonk (only went there once on a night when they let people wear normal clothes. I can't stand country music...), Miss Cues, The Library Lounge, Enochs still rules.
Anybody remember the Loose Caboose when it was in West Monroe? That was a big hangout as well. Little coffee shop that had open mic nights and bands and stuff. Dropped my first acid at the Loose Caboose... ah, memories!
Oh and football! You just haven't played or been to a high school football game until you've been to Carrol High School! Be prepared to fight your way out. They loved (love?) to throw rocks and bottles at the cars and busses.
There was a great little drive-in in West Monroe off North 7th (or Whites Ferry Road) called Dylan's. Makes (made?) a great po-boy, fries, and a shake!
Chile Verde! We always had a great time getting drunk on rot-gut tequilla and eating cat-meat tacos. Ah, the memories! And who can forget Picadilly and Ryans Steakhouse! The Pickle Barrel still makes the best sandwiches in town, IMO.
Hey, are the drive-in daquiri stores still there? I would think there would be riots in the streets if they weren't.
And there was nothing more frightening from a "Deliverance" stand point than driving at night in Bawcomville. I only made that mistake once. Oh, and you just haven't done Monroe and the viscinity if you haven't pounded a bottle of Maddog 20/20 Banana Red out at the levys in Sterlington. Just stay out of the cotton fields at night.

showing my age, but what about Sal's vs Siesta, The Backseat II vs Private Eyes ?
Good times for me.
Can't believe I wore a gold chain on the outside of a turtle neck, girbaud jeans and rolled my pants and actually thought I looked good? Ouch!

Dude, I used to kick it at the Caboose when i wanted to get high. I think they shut it down for drugs or it couldve been the fact that nobody was buyin anything. Any of yall remember the swamp plate at Joe Bob's off of White's Ferry. I used to ride D'arbonne bayou onto the river and comeback and eat at that joint. To bad Joe Bob got into some trouble. That was an awesome place.

Parents and I used to take the boat down there and eat every once in a while. It was a good place as I recall.

For you hard core party people. What about "The Hangout"? BYOB that opened at midnight when the bars shut. Does anyone even remember bars closing at midnight?

How about the GREAT FLOOD of 1991....and the IMC plant explosion in Sterlington....I still remember paddling a John Boat down Chauvin Lane to help folks sandbag....Deborah and that whole area was completely under water....Those new subdivisions behind the MAC better pray that we don't have another flood.....(and we are due!)

Have a friend who served as producer at KNOE back during this time. She was an NLU R-TV-F grad. That was the way I was heading until I picked up an athletic scholarship.
