Sammie lives in Columbus, GA(well last time I knew what he was up to he did, and that was around 10th reunion time) working for Fellowship of Christian Athletes I think.

And yes...he made me do that.

He was a "tad bit" proud of himself. I would crack on him pretty hard about it too. I really cracked on him about leaving a fastball up out over the plate when I was a Sr and I drove in 3 runs to beat him....I would have never said anything if he hadnt been gloating about striking me out...

He was and I expect still is a real good guy though.

Did Michael Garrett have his own video he made people watch too?

oh....and sorry about hijacking the thread.....

he probably had porn videos...he was more proud of his sexual conquests than athletic abilities I believe ...so since you threw Garrett out there I guess you know Rudder? Rudder was my 10th grade boyfriend.

no....cant say that name rings a bell....but I knew his buddy Michael Pirnique.....He also played on the Oilers with me. I knew Sammie better than I knew MG.....

and as you said...MG pretty well thought of himself as a lady killer.....so the porn refrence you said is fitting.

That would have had to been Trish Hilyard.....thats the only Trish I can think of that graduated around 91. She was from the "metropolis" known as Faircrest! Or as us older folks called it...Mt. Union.

It was all about the Airport Lounge back in the day...

LIT's, stale popcorn, and a single pool table that slanted about 15 degrees to one side. Cant be beat...

Mt. Union

Hadn't heard that in years. The little league team there had the same guy pitch for about 10 years, it was the only team we could beat.

That short right porch was something for us to aim at too at Mt Union...bunch of lazy swing homeruns because of it.........what team did you play for in the "Rebel League"......

I really think that was about the most unique league for kids I have seen. Most kids played in a league where all the games were played at the same park. We got to have road games!!!.........Loved playing at Three Creeks too......go out and look for gators at that big pond right behind the field!

Never mind....I saw in a earlier post you went to Bernice around 79 or so....that was a few years before Bennie Anders wasnt it?.....he of the Phi Slamma Jamma Fame.......

I had just edited my post to say I saw you went to Bernice.......did Bennie Anders play ball for the Bears right about that time or was that after you?.........he was the REAL dunker for Phi Slamma Jamma if you ask me......that boy could sky!

When I was a kid I used to go to the Dual State Tourney all the time....and one year the big matchup was Bernice and Summerfield.....Bernice with Bennie Anders and Summerfield with Karl Malone....that gym in JC was so packed for that game. I just cant remember what year it was cause I was so young at the time.

FWIW NLA, I follow UCA baseball here in Conway. Don't see a Darren Jones on staff here. Must have moved on.

I figured he did.....he had coached there right before Clark took over.....so I didnt figure he was there now.....but ya never know. He was all Gulf South at SAU in the mid 90's....and I think played independent ball a year or 2...then started coaching. Assistant baseball coaches move around as much or more than assistant football coaches it seems.

Bennie was 2 years behind me. It was always a battle when Bernice played Summerfield, Dubach or Pineview. Dubach had a 6'10" guy, Alton Gibson (I think) that was around then and Pineview had a front line that were all 6'5" or 6'6". Hell of an area for high school basketball then. Bernice had another guy that was between Bennie and I, Jimmy Thompson that was better than Bennie, went to the Air Force. Couldn't get the grades for college.

There was also a guard at Marion about that time that was out of this world good.....was averaging like 45 points a game but was considered "undersized" and the big schools didnt recruit him. He went to NLU and blew his knee out his freshman or soph year. One of the years that Karl was so good he played Marion in the finals at Dual State and it was packed too. Like you said.....there was a bunch of talent in the small schools in North La at that time.
