I mean...I'm currently nursing and I just use the lightweight cover. It's pretty convenient, it even has burp rag material on the corners. No sense in making other people uncomfortable.

Breastfeeding is great. My wife breastfed both our kids, but she covered up bc she has some decency. If we were shopping, she'd go in the car and feed, covered up.
Chick in this story is an attention whore plain and simple. I don't agree with what the man did, but at the same time, I'd prefer my kids didn't see titties in target.

same but my wife wouldn't go to the car
she would just find a bench or something to feed while covered up
its not that difficult
seeing a woman breastfeed doesn't bother me and I don't see how or why it would bother anyone, but the nazi open breastfeeders are just attention whores like the open carry advocates IMO

If its for your comfort then wonderful, but I don't think you should be expected to do this for the comfort of others.
A simple blanket or towel is all that should be expected IMO. Not advocated bare nips being flung around, but its not hard to cover with a small towel and breast feed without anyone getting any peaks at your tits.

How come this wasn't an issue until recently? I don't remember anyone in the fifties trying to expose themselves in public and crying fowl when they were called out on it.

Wrong, everybody was gay in the fifties. Watch some Nick at Nite, guys didn't sleep in the same bed with their wives, everyone danced and sang, and they all wore super tight pants. Doesn't get much gayer.
