I always chuckle when he refers to some of his acquaintances as "good guys, stand up fellas, hard working, etc". Okay...

New Orleans would be cleaned up before lunch if the mob was heavily present.

The NOLA mob essentially died with Carlos Marcello.

Large cities could use a resurgence of the mob. I am shocked it has not happened yet. I suspect many neighborhoods would pay a premium for their protection and it would clean up a lot of problems.

frick that. Every ma and pa store would have to pay protection. And innocent people were killed in the crossfire.

The mobs downfall came from greed, selfishness, and jealousy. And snitches. Technology drove the final nail in the coffin. There will never be a mafia like the 30s through the 80s.

But I hope this guy calls Sammy the Rat and invites him to dinner.

I've listened to several of Gravano's podcasts and he said Bensonhurst was a safe neighborhood due to Mafia control back in the day. He mentioned a guy that raped a local girl and NYPD either couldn't, or wouldn't, do anything about it. So La Cosa Nostra took care of him in a way that assured he would never, ever harm anyone again.

I do believe that their violence was self contained. If you weren’t a member or involved criminally with members in some way you were left alone. I’m sure frick ups can be pointed out through history.

What the frick? That’s the idealized version not reality. People shaken down, threatened, extorted, beaten severely, and killed, same for their loved ones, innocent business people, witnesses in court cases, on and on.
You’ve been watching way too much Godfather movies.
