Mrs Bard and I have far too much family in Louisiana to not have a house here and with that much cash we would have a nice one ;)
-Tithe to the church (get something nice named after us)
-Buy some land, tear down what's there and build a nice, big house to host holidays
-Buy a place in the mountains (Jackson Hole, maybe)
-Put around 40-50M into an investment account generating at least 5% return (we can be risk averse at this point and still be OT ballahs)
-Get a mill in gold, a mill in silver and a mill in cash and hide it somewhere just in case the world goes to shite
-Pick a good 10-12 local charities and donate 100k each
-Buy a place on a beach somewhere, maybe Belize
-Tithe to the church (get something nice named after us)

Assuming I won't the the Mega Millions, I'll assume after taxes and other incidentals I'd have half of that. So $173mm.
$50mm in a "safe bucket" income trust.
$100mm in a diversified semiagressive portfolio of public equity, private equity, real estate, fixed income, etc.
$23mm I would buy "legacy" properties including a house, lake house, ranch, etc.

You need to substitute that cash million for ammo. If the shite hits the fan cash will be worthless and ammo will be more valuable than gold or silver.

First thing I do is change my phone number. Next is get the hell of of dodge for a few months (winner's name is made public). Take care of family and make some charitable donations. Take a big family vacation (only the cool ones). Bad karma to rub it in people's face..so no to that.

I'd break something serious at work. Like shut the place down for weeks.
Then I'd break my parents and in laws off.
Then I'd donate enough money to the church so they could start a private school.
Then I'd buy a home Uptown, vacation spot one each coast and in Key West.
Live off the interest from investments.
