What a pita to replace. Why would washers opt for this over a snubber ring?

I think I caught it in time before metal started grinding but this $5 kit will probably take me at least 2 hours to replace.

Napoleon please tell me I won't need to do this again for another 20 years.

Change that fricking bearing while you have it apart.

these?

Generally last life of machine. I've never had to change them, usually something that labor intensive on such an old machine winds up costing near the price of a new machine at Lowe's.

(it was actually less than I thought... I thought it was like $350)

its a LA612 and the damper pads (including the lube) is like $20 at most.

i still need to buy high-heat adhesive as well and a wire brush to scrub the damn things but I'm using the 'washer on a 2x4' method instead of taking the brake apart

that looks like a huge deal if i end up taking the brake apart.

eta yep. thats one of the videos i watched. frick paying $300 to do this job. i can clean some metal and reglue some pads myself.
