n Florida there is established precedent that providing a passcode is no different than giving up fingerprints

If the cops can circumvent the password, let them do it and put the costs of doing so on the defendant IF they find the evidence they were looking for
Since when does the defendant in a case become responsible for the costs of a police investigation?

Can't they find a way to bypass the passcode?

Apple's password security is apparently so difficult to crack, that it baffled the FBI and US intelligence agencies that were trying to get into the San Bernardino terrorist's phone for a while and they still haven't acknowledged how they were able to eventually break into the phone.

I can understand a biometric pass being required to be provided to law enforcement given that a fingerprint isn't a protected thing but forcing passwords to be given is horseshite.
They even used that as one of the justifications. That if they can force you to unlock a phone via biometrics, there isn't a difference to forcing you to give up passcode.

thats such a weird line. so they can force you to open your phone via fingerprint but cant force you to open it via password? isnt your fingerprint your password in that case?
