I appreciate the chart. I'm sure someone showed JBE similar numbers which is driving his decision making. The good news is Louisiana is getting ahead of this thing. I'm sure the number of positive cases will keep going up (most being people with mild effects) but hopefully the number of deaths doesn't budge. Also, "good" news (on the whole) is that 5 (I think) of those deaths are localized to Lambeth House which is basically locked down. Horrible for those people but good in terms of containing the spread.
Next week is pivotal for this state. If the deaths don't go up then I think JBE will consider lifting the closures/lockdown in the first week of April but still admonish people to wash hands and get bars and restaurants to be hyper-vigilant in terms of cleaning.

That’s what’s tricky. The Lombardy and Milan areas did start shutting things down pretty early on. And someone brought up a good point that I had never heard before - northern Italians fled to Southern Italy increasing the spread I’m assuming. There’s so many ways to slice it and dice it. It’ll just be interesting to watch the LA numbers over the next 2 weeks. I understand now why the governor did what he did. I’m sad for our economy, though.

Using your method, I decided to write down NOLAs numbers in a third column. (It starts the same dates as Louisiana, since it was the location of the first case and death)
NOLA is fairing much better than Louisiana or Italy. We are not nearly on such a curve up as those two.

I must say, I don’t like wide ruled either. It’s all my 2nd grader had. His book sack/room was the closet to my room. I could have fit more of Italy’s days on college ruled

It's still alarming that Louisiana tracked Italy for the first two weeks numbers-wise given the disparity in population. I think it more than supports a decision to implement aggressive measures. The cost of not doing so would be more devastating not only to life lost but also to the economy.

I don’t Facebook and my kids don’t play soccer. I compared Italy to Louisiana because the Governor did in his 2pm address to the state. I went to the Website he advised us to visit and couldn’t read the graphs from my phone. They were blurry on the tv and on my phone, and i kept thinking “yeh but when did Italy lock places down” so I decided to figure it out for myself.
