It was 23 skidoo. Back then you had to carry a flintlock pistol everywhere you went & we tied an onion on our beltloops as was the fashion.

Too bad, so many solid D1 and NFL football guys got their start in boxing for the schools too poor to have a football team. Of all the sports I did, boxing by far was the best way to condition and be at peak form.

Not sure about the fashion part, but that was the "lunchables" of the day. You ate em raw, just like an apple. To this day, love onions!

Fair enough.
Liver & Onions was a staple of my youth
Organ meat was cheaper and liver got you iron for your body
Guess onions were cheap / easy to grow as that was usually the first vegetable in the stew pot.
