Church school had a cloister so the nuns beat us during the day. Church had a house across the street where the priests lived (back then lots of priests) and usually 1 German, 1 Irish, and 1 Italian at least. After school they laced us up to settle stuff from school the old fashioned way, the manly art of fisticuffs.

The high school where my brother went in NOLA had a brother that taught wrestling and boxing.
The nuns at my school were nice. They treated us like we were their children.

Yeah the Vatican II nuns were cool.
Pre Vatican II, you got the big nuns with the full habit (just round part of face and three hands). Vatican II nuns you got skirts to the knees so you got to see legs. Same with neck, arms, hair. You could see they were actually women.
Might also have been a sex issue. Back then Catholic school was not co ed so they may have ridden herd on all boys as opposed to all girls where they were nice.

Late lunch?
I want to tell a story that nobody will hear and this thread is anchored so,, I had an exciting day got some things done today fairly significant things
Thats not what I wanted to share.
So I did these things at an event getting some fairly impressive people to agree to something,, classy shite, God damn patriotic shite
so to go the event I had to look my best and my hair ,which is magnificent
had not been cut in some time
I've just been shopping at it with some thinning shears but the back of my neck was a mess
I think it was like growing a mullet a hairy mullet...well took a calculated cut ahead of tonight's festivities
But I got quite a few compliments on my haircut tonight people said it was the best haircut they had seen on me in years
So I got it going for me which is nice
