Yikes. Doesn't sounds good.

I assume it's over 200 miles too?

Mapguy might not be a mechanic, but his advice to take the car to NOLA and have it stolen isn't the worst idea.

You need to have it looked at, by someone other than AutoZone.

If it runs out of oil, the engine will lock up, then you will be SOL.

my truck holds 6 as well..

i don't know then.. that's still a lot of oil and you would see a large spot under the suv.

when you stop the car, does it smell like something was burning in the engine?

Maybe you could suggest some neighborhoods where you do business?

Bring it to the University Shell on Claiborne. Tell them Pox sent you.

My cadillac was doing the same thing. Would be fine for a long time, then any drives of length I had to put 1 or 2 quarts back in.

Then my transmission completely died on me.

150k

I'm going to get an oil change. Was supposed to go today. But I'm still in bed

Maybe I should take it to the mechanic shop instead of speedy lube this time

Shouldn't be too difficult to have it stolen in NOLA.

Had a buddy that did this a couple of times. Insurance payoff was better than a trade in. Parked the trucks off bourbon and left the keys in them - both gone in less than 4 hours.

I doubt my Doc is looking for a new car. He's about your age and will either die or retire soon.

Is that the same transmission your dad bought for you a couple of years ago?

My car had 200,000 miles in it. And not a new transmission.

Well I only got one new transmission in the past couple years

And I wouldn't be shocked if my dad paid for it
