Infrared is real, and it's worth it. That's a nice little starter set up. Char Broil is not high end name brand, but is a popular choice for people just like you that want to get into basic grilling. If you are just grilling for 2-4 people, that one is a really good choice imo.

just get a cheap char-broil. i see the food board is against it, but you can get a new charbroil every 5 years for 15 years ($99 x3) and still be under the price of the same model in Weber for $349.
and if you decide you dont use it as much as you thought, it is the $100 version not the $300. just take the time to store under an awning or buy a cover

For $100 more than the one you posted and has a 10 year warranty.
for the price of this one with a 10yr warranty you can get 20 years worth of the char-broil

True...as long as she doesn't mind replacing a crappy grill every other year.

Ingredients:
Thick-cut steak (2 in. tenderloin shown here)
Salt and black pepper
1 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
A lil pat of butter
1 clove garlic, minced
Technique:
Start with good quality steaks that are seasoned with salt and pepper and brought to room temperature. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Bring your heaviest skillet up to high heat on top of the stove and then add the olive oil. Sear the steaks on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side), and then slide the skillet into the hot oven to finish cooking. (I usually leave mine in about five or six minutes for medium). Once done, remove steaks and let them rest for a few minutes. In the meantime, return skillet to stove top, add about a half a stick of butter and a little minced garlic, and scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spatula to make a great sauce to drizzle over the steaks.Tonnère mes chiens ç'est bon!

do you use ketchup when you eat them?

The Weber is no doubt a better grill, that's what I use. But she has literally never grilled before, and just wants a starter. Also, the Weber doesn't have the infrared.
It all depends on what she wants to spend. I would recommend starting with the cheaper brand, and if you realize you enjoy and use it a lot, when it wears out, trash it and move up to a Weber. But that just my opinion. Her call.
