I'm from the country and grew up on it. Mom used to beat the meat with a glass coke bottle.
Now, wild duck. Nope. That is gamey as hell. I've tried a few times and I can't bring myself to like it.

I'm with you Paigey... Venison is one of the most over rated meats.

I think it's pretty good.
Fried backstrap, deer roast, deer neck stew, seared tenderloins, etc. Makes really good sausage also

I'll take a ribeye over backstrap every day too but that doesn't mean I don't like deer meat

ETA: Mom usually sends me home with some ground deer and some deer sausage though. The ground deer makes a good chili.

chili is pretty much my go to with deer meat and I mix it with ground pork for that
