quote:i am in texas. love some beef BBQ. smoke a beef chuck roast and make chopped beef sandwiches. that is good eating
o you believe in BBQ brisket? Or do you believe that pork is the only meat that is BBQ?

It's Texas bbq, so sure.
There's a big thread on the SEC Rant about BBQ. I had no idea, but there is supposedly a big difference of opinion. Many believe that ONLY pork is considered BBQ. Period. Pork only. Not chicken. Not beef. Those things are considered smoked meat that you can put sauce on. They are NOT BBQ.
I looked it up on the internet. Evidently, this is a fierce debate. I had no idea. Some purists believe that a brisket cannot be considered BBQ. Ever.

The way the International BBQ is formatted, you have to be only one of the following: Ribs, Shoulder, or Whole Hog.
All teams can enter sub categories:
Anything but, (anything goes except main 3)
Judges choice - (don't know ahead of time. Judges give all partipating teams same cut of meat)
Beef
Chicken
Seafood
Exotic
3 sauce categories:
Regular
Vinegar
Mustard.

Yes, eventually. Unless you are a female version of Enoch or Elijah.

You can't win an International BBQ Grand Championship cooking brisket.
If someone were to say, "Hey Reb, want a bbq?"
I would expect a pulled or chopped shoulder/butt sandwich.

I never knew this. I thought BBQ was considered slow cooking something over charcoal or wood. And that could be any meat. Did not know it was relegated to pork only. Especially would have never thought that BBQ brisket was not real BBQ. I learn something new every day.

Maybe that’s why I’m so moody
I’ll have to set an alarm to take it

completely subjective. you're exaggerating a bit.

Excellent point. However, I think he's more of a Lazarus than those 2. He died. He was just resurrected while still here on earth.

If you were in Tejas, bbq would probably be synonymous with brisket.
I seldom use bbq as a verb. I say smoke or grill depending on how I'm cooking.
People in LA call their grills "Pitts".
I never use that term. I say "grills" for grills and "smoker" for smokers.
No right or wrong. People from different regions use different terms.
