Do colleges really make you make up that day. I graduated from a college in Illinois and we never had to make up those days...

LSU seems pretty anal about making up days. We had to start the semester on a Wednesday after all, so they've always been conscious of how many semester days we have.
We'll probably have shortened breaks or Saturday classes...

That's bullshite. At ISU we had at least one day a year and never had to do anything to make it up. They have had 5 this year with no such worries.
