Since I will be moving in the near future I have decided to complete a graduate degree online instead of transferring classes between schools(if that's even possible for a Master's degree). Has anyone received an online graduate degree from LSU-S? If so, how difficult was it?

Bonus question: Could LSU-S lose its accreditation due to the budget cuts looming from this state?

Seems to me that in a world where you have many options for online degrees, LSU-S would be a bad option. Is it a lot cheaper than for example Penn State which is probably the best.

I have 5 years experience in my field so the quality of school isn't as important as if I was still a student.

Well yeah if you really just want the piece of paper then go with you cheapest option. There is almost no way any school in the LSU system loses its accreditation. There was some talk a couple years ago of LSU-S merging with the UL system, but even then, I wouldn't worry.

I dont but online classes tend to be a joke compared to on campus classes.

Fwiw, your degree will say from LSU. Nowhere will it say it was online or a satellite campus

That's right, but Tech is in the UL system.

Post this on or request it moved to the money talk board. There was a lengthy thread there not long ago about the LSUS online MBA.

Louisiana Tech in an effort to expand its presence in a larger city made a push to absorb LSUS as part of Louisiana Tech University. Not a separate institution as it exists now but an extension of the school in Ruston. The former mayor of Shreveport supported it.

Shreveport would have been better served by having a higher ranked higher ed with a presence in the area. There was a big uproar from students that they were going to get the shaft (even though a Tech degree is more valuable than LSUS). The LSU system president pushed back and promised to give more support and resources to LSUS. Really the only thing that changed was LSUS getting to change their logo and colors to match LSU-BR. Now their students feel like they go to LSU and all is well.

I've actually heard the opposite for grad degrees.

IMO i wouldn't go with LSUS right now with the budgets. I would go with LA Tech and NW State, if they offer the degree you want.

Penn State is held in so much higher regard that you might consider it.

You may not be working in Louisiana all your life.

I just did a google. Arizona State and Miami of Florida both come up too.

Those three are all known nationally.
