I was at American Sugar last week. It’s a sight to see 70 thousand tons of raw sugar waiting to be processed.

They made a plant in Raceland to specifically turn bagasse into some type of fuel pellet, Stora Enzo was the name. Lasted about 2-3 years before they abruptly shut it down. They currently cutting the whole facility up for scrap now. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the huge piles of Bagasses there now, I was told it was going to be hauled off to some the land the mill owns and stacked there. From there I'm not sure what's going to happen to it.

I actually use bagasse cane “paper” plates at home. Thick, heavy duty plates that are compostable. I’ve used them for a few years now and like them quite a bit.
