There was a bill proposed in LA last year of year before where the stickers would no longer b a requirement but the fee would be added to registration. But I thought the inspections were for our safety.

If the cops see an "expired sticker" that's a red flag. If they don't see a sticker, you might be from out of state.

Pro tip. If you scrape them off, cops passing opposite you think you are from out of state since we don't have plates on the front. Very few will look at your plate from behind and then pass you to look at your windshield.
Only one I've got was from a checkpoint and I almost didn't get that one except for some young rambo cop pointed it out to the one I was talking to.
