Looking at upvote count before laughing

This is a weird thing I noticed about my self. And I bet I'm not the only one.
If I read something funny posted here, before I laugh I take a quick (almost subconscious)glance at the upvote count. Higher the upvote the bigger the laugh.
But this isn't so different than being in a real group of people and hearing a joke and then first looking around for others approval before belting out a laugh. The more people that approve of the joke the more freely you can allow yourself to laugh.
(For you younger folks, people used to get together, sit around, talk and bullshite...face-to-face.)

You're a trained monkey with no agency.

What I am getting here is that you have no sense of humor and depend on others for ques about what is or is not funny.

No, but I do look at upvotes to see if it's worth reading a post more than about two sentences long.

This place has probably only made me laugh out loud to myself a few dozen times in the decade I've been a member.
Not sure why the voting ration would factor into you finding something humorous, that's strange
