Why does one need to take a dog to a park of dirt and shitty dog owners?
Not all dog parks are the same. One close to where I live is a really nice dog park in a nice area so you don't have so many trashy dog owners there.
Also....if you live in an apartment or condo.....you don't have a yard for your dog to play and run free off leash. Dog parks allow your dogs to do that. People just don't realize that you still need to be aware of what your dog is doing. You can't just unleash them inside the park and go sit down and play on your phone the entire time. You should be playing with your dog.
I would bring my pug to the "big dog" side all the time and never had an issue. But I also knew where he was the entire time and was aware of any dogs that was trying to play with him.
Why was the mom of the kids with the dog just sitting in the car? She should have been in the park as well. Those kids likely didn't know any better...just wanted their dog to play with other dogs. That has to be a traumatic thing for those poor kids to see.....their dog attacked like that.

100% this. People probably think it's weird but I always follow my lab around the dog park. If a dog tries to jump on her back, my lab is going to check some knuckles. By following her I can see the signs and lead her somewhere else.

Main reason we used to go to a dog park was when we lived in an apt....our lab loves to play fetch so the park allowed him to run and do that. My pug was more interested in having other people pet him than other dogs. But if there was a really big dog there(he especially loves Great Danes and mastiffs).....he wanted to run up to them and play with him. So I had to keep an eye on him.
Sometimes a bunch of big dogs would crowd around him just wanting to play....but that would overwhelm him and he would get a little too defensive....that's when I would always pick him up and move to another area of the park.

We used to bring both of our dogs (60ish pound mutt and 10ish pound chihuahua) to the City Park dog park pretty regularly when we lived near there, and there was no small dog section. Never had an issue with either dog, the little guy would sometimes go play with the bigger dogs, but he spent most of his time finding kids that would play with him.

We live in an "I'm entitled" society and there is a segment of dog owners that fits right in with this mantra. "Look, there's the dog park and I want everyone to see me with my wonderful, but not particularly socialized, dog."

To meet chicks? I don't see trashy people at the dog park. Mostly hipsters or good looking women in yoga pants.

The woman who owned the dog was sitting in her car eating and sent her kids out with the dog and they put it in the wrong area. She admitted on the news last night that it was 100% her fault for not following the rules and she should have not sent her kids out there with the dog alone. She does not blame the other persons dogs or the city, said it was completely her fault. Unfortunately, her kids had to watch their family pet get mauled to death.

Do large dogs automatically kill small dogs?
Small dogs have a tendency to bow up to large dogs and snap and bark in their face. Some large dogs don't play that shite and take them to task.
