After greasing the bird feeder pole to keep the squirrels and coons out of the bird feeder with little success, I finally switched to an electric fence charger and wound hot and ground wires up the pole. After 35 years, there has NEVER been a squirrel or coon in the bird feeder.
It has been the FINAL solution.
