I've got an old friend who moved out there after college. I get not having visited him yet. But I've just recently gotten to the point I make good enough money to travel to places like that. Though now, I work too much.
Funny how that works.

I was picky as hell growing up. It wasn't until high school, where two of my best friends were Indian, that I started experimenting. Probably the only time peer pressure has led to me doing something good.

I've always been more of a freshwater kind of guy, especially paddling. Here's a pic of the Buffalo River in Arkansas. It's a very easy paddle, and is as scenic as anywhere in the Rockies or Appalachians.

It's been nice having my cousin here. He's not only into most of the same things. But he's also got a Hobie cat for doing and a Rubicon. I've hit the Ozarks harder in 5 months then I did in 2.5 years in the Rockies.

I love Mexican food and Chinese food. I love spicy food but I've tried Indian food twice and just didn't care for it. I don't care for deer or rabbit. I don't like anything that taste gamey or wild. And I've never had squirrel. I just don't see a reason to try it. It just seems weird to eat stuff like that. Veal makes me sad to think about so I don't eat that either.

Beaches surrounded by mountains sounds like the best of both worlds.

If you're in Louisiana, that might explain it. I never had decent Indian food there.

Most of my friends family were pharmacists. They'd often have aunts and cousins stay with them while they established their residence to get a green card.

About the time we'd come home after partying all night. They'd wake up to cook. To me, it looked absolutely disgusting. But I knew nothing could smell that good, and taste bad. That opened up my palate tremendously. Now. I'm still picky, but in most of America, I don't have a problem finding something to eat.

Glad you're enjoying the buffalo. Did my mile swim there for Boy Scouts back in the day.

Arkansas has its issues but scenic beauty isn't one of them. We've got a lot of state parks and national forest land here

That would be ideal. But I couldn't live on an island. I'd get homesick and miss family. Colorado was already too far away for my liking.

The Buffalo is so nice, even if I get back to New Orleans. I'll come back for a vacation. There's nothing like an overnight on those banks, instead of packed in a campground.

I really like nwa. If it had more music, I could see myself settling down here. But my project is up in Thanksgiving. They'll probably send me to Jonesboro next, which sounds awful. But I'm have saved enough money, to where I'll have more freedom then I've ever had. So I'm happy about how it's going. Though I do need to knock up a Walton before I leave. I'd like to retire early.

But I've also been to the mulberry, and recently camped in frog bayou in Ozark. This weekend, I'm either camping near White Rock or on Beaver Lake. Really, you can't go wrong either way.

Homemade is always better! I'm sure you're right about what I've had here in Louisiana. They're probably the best at seafood but no so much other things. I grew up in Texas and miss good Mexican food. It's just not the same here.

I'm the same way about living too far from family. I don't think I could do that but I wouldn't hate a vacation there!

CC some good looking scenery in that picture. When I was younger I used to take summer vacations with my grandparents there favorite place to visit was Branson, Missouri. Made several trips through the Ozark mountains. Silver Dollar City and Dogpatch USA were exciting places to visit as a kid. I don't even know if they exist anymore.

Moxie are you in Louisiana and if so what part? You don't have to give the town or city. I grew up in southern Louisiana and cajun cooking was my mom and grandma's speciality. Hard to find that kind of food out here.

I live in south Louisiana. My husband grew up here so I cook some cajun foods but I didn't grow up eating them. I love them now. I also cook some Mexican like Enchiladas and make Guacamole because it's hard to find that here.
I went to Pensacola Beach one time and was so disappointed in the seafood we ate there. It was all fried and everything looked and tasted the same. I couldn't even tell what was what. It was a shame with all that fresh seafood there. If someone opened a good seafood restaurant in Florida they could make a fortune.

Sounds like when I first got out here in the 1990's I saw there was a crawfish festival at the beach. I was so pumped. Get there order a small order of crawfish he handed me a box with boiled unseasoned crawfish and then tells me to sprinkle cajun seasoning on it. I was like

Never went back

Wow! How disappointing that would be. I hope you at least get to come back home some.

I think I'm going to call it a night. Thanks for the company again. For some reason my friends don't like to text a 2am. LOL Sorry y'all now know more about my eating habits than anyone would ever want to know. Have fun surfing FLBoo! and camping CC if I don't see you back on here before then.
