trade with a few people to keep fresh tapes coming in (even if you had a copy of a show, a different copy from a different taper may be more preferred)

See, that's wild to me and pretty damn cool. You don't get that with modern music.

Same here...I had about 200 Dead shows on cassette and DAT. I recently (a couple weeks ago), had an audiophile deadhead friend dump about 600 shows onto my 4TB drive...all organized, indexed, and corrected (audio).

I don't know if I will ever get to all of them, but it is now pretty easy to dial one up using an iPad while sitting across the room!

I was never really a Dead fan but we used to do the same with Maiden concerts.

I would love to have more Maiden live shows from the Powerslave era...I just don't know how readily available they are. The beauty of the Dead was that they encouraged and helped their audience record the shows, even having a roped off "tapers section" at every show, thus creating an insane amount of well recorded complete shows.

It would be fantastic if some high quality recordings of Maiden surfaced. I am curious if the band recorded all their shows and have a vault of masters stashed away...

that has certainly taken the skill and a little bit of fun out of it.

i don't think full access is such a good thing.

With this warm weather, I'm sure it is cheaper to go out and buy power then starting up a unit.
