Oh yeah, bunch of youngins running around. I'm fixing to test that youth's determination to learn here shortly. We are going to cram 2yrs worth of unit knowledge into 8 months of hardcore otj training.

So you won't be opening a valve by hand for at least 8 months.

Not even a half inch ball valve - "come give me a hand opening this junior, it's stuck"

Is there a lot of plant work around the gulf still? I had an uncle get laid off who was in maintenance and a master welder. He just recently got his CWI.

So far it looks like I'll be heading up this crew. It will be interesting to watch it go up and then start it up and commission system by system. We will know that plant intimately.

Plant work in S LA? A shite load.

I don't work in what people traditionally think of when they think plant work though.

Lake Charles is pretty busy right now. Energy has two big plants going up, one around New Orleans and one around Lake Charles.

He's in Mobile. He was with a industrial chemical plant. He was hoping to be close to home while he pops his cherry with his CWI. But once his severance is spent, I know he'll be ready to travel if necessary.

That's true, it isn't completely built yet. What the hell are y'all gonna do over there until it is ready?

Sounds like that'll be up his alley with his welding experience and inspection certs.

Do you know what contractors are working on those?

In the next month or so we will start to have systems to be checked out and the training from the engineers on how to run the different systems. We have to write our own start up and shut down procedures. We are going to look like monkeys fricking a football for a while.

I sure don't. We use welders from a company called Saulsbury for our boiler welding here.
