They get as big as a Volkswagen.

Supposedly they are plentiful out by the oil platforms.

I’m listening.

How about an former soldier who’s brother/friend gets killed in the sandbox, and the bloody swath of revenge he leaves in his wake. Hunted from all sides.

The official call is he is to be treated as a target by the allied forces, but his former brothers in arms are reluctant to act in such a manner, at least the ones that understand that what he is doing is a necessary evil.

A man that operates outside the law.

Of course the stuffed shirts want him gone because he’s taking out some of them too, the ones whose corruption and incompetence got his brother killed.

The only kiss in this one is the kiss of the bullet on the lips of those that crossed him.

Cancer took his faithful wife back home. He buried romance in the grave with her. He’s a man with nothing to lose, the most dangerous kind.

Nothing at all. It has its place.

But some of the stuff I’ve made is downright dangerous.

Made a Bloody Mary infusion that is killer.

Cucumbers, key limes, basil, cracked black pepper, bacon, celery and onions.

Revenge tales are ages old, it’s about the writing. The tale you weave. Putting your reader right there.

Where they can feel the bite of the sand as it whips against your face in the wind. The quiet symphony of the desert at night. The weight of the trigger as it sends its payload to its target. The pink mist as justice is taken.

It’s all about the telling.

If there’s a story to be told, we can tell it. In all its gory truth.

That glorious burn as it hits your lips and tears down your throat. The heady smoke and rye that fills your nose, redolent with oak and smoke. The spreading warmth, like slowmatch.

And details about hours upon hours waiting, crosshairs burned into your eyes, wanting to reach out and touch someone.

How does time work out there bush? Because time is a funny thing. I’d imagine the wait pales in comparison to the eternity encapsulated between the pull of the trigger and the bloody end of a bullet finding its home.
