I have a form of Muscular Dystrophy (I hate to say muscular dystrophy because people think of what they see on the MD Jerry Lewis Telethon), but its not the most common type. The most common type is Duchenne. People who have, they start off with no problems, usually have no problem in their toddler years, but soon after their toddler years they start having problems and usually, by their early teens they completely depend on a wheelchair and usually do not live out of their mid 20s.
Mine is diagnosed as congenital MD, which is a category for any other type that doesn't fall under the other categories. My situation seems to be "standard" for the types considered congenital MD. I was diagnosed at an early age, it slowly progresses and there is no life span associated with it, especially if remaining active, etc.
