yea, Louis Vuitton or Chanel are safe bets. If you can scrounge up $10k, you can get a Hermes Birkin bag -the holy grail of all bags.

But I don't recommend buying something without knowing what she likes/wants.

I was just talking to a nurse at work who's husband gave her a really nice purse like over a year ago(I think she said Gucci) and she said she never uses it cause it's just not her style. She was asking me ways to suggest to her husband that she sell it on ebay or something and use the money for a purse she will actually use.

Then you should really just ask her what she likes.

Think about something you really like. Would you want her just buying you something expensive for you that she has no clue about without your input?

I'm not a huge fan of Balenciaga either, but I'm sure I could pick one out if I had to. I'm a fan of Chloe and Marc Jacobs.

Fendi is risky IMO. So is Gucci.

Yeah it would have to be one of the solid leather ones without all the logos all over it.

sometimes Gucci will have normal stuff, then other times, it's like the designers were on acid when they came up with the next bag to design.

I like simpler bags. All one color, leather usually. NO logos printed all over it.

And see, we just further illustrated why the OP needs to ask his wife. Every woman likes different types of bags.

I think it is very sweet that you are wanting to pick out something for your wife. How romantic. The girls who insist on picking out their own gifts, engagement rings, etc. don't know a good thing when they see it--if they are ever lucky enough to see it in a guy. If my husband picks something out for me, I love it regardless. I love it because he picked it out especially for me. He thought about me and wanted to do something nice for me. That means the world to me. Not the jewelry or purse or whatever. It's literally the thought that counts.

As far as the handbag goes, if name brand is something you are going for Gucci is fabulous. A lot of women love Louis Vuitton as well. And Michael kors of course.

He's wanting to spend $3000, not $300
