I moved to BR 21 years ago from Lake Chuck. The claims that BR is Cajun is total bullcrap. Lake Chuck is NOT that Cajun and way more Cajun than BR. BR is more like North Louisiana, likely due to the influence of Huey P. Long and his lingering ghost that still influences state government
As for work, if you are a computer programmer, Laffy was the place to be pre 2014 due the oil biz needs a lot of that. Also why LUS installed the highest speed (at the time) internet in the nation after none of the private companies would.

I wasn't sure about Early's. I originally read it as Earl's.

Yes, for you taco bell on Kaliste Saloom. No call ahead so get there early.

Also you can stop at many random gas stations and get better cajun food then anywhere in Baton Rouge.
But what about for people who don't live and die for that cajun $hit?
I actually find the food scene in BR, especially the international selection, pretty respectable, maybe more so than this board would care to admit.
And btw, for a town like Lafayette that is conveniently compared to BR often on this board, It would seem that I should see more evidence of a reasonable sized city while driving thru on the interstate than I do while driving thru Denham Springs or Gonzales.
I mean, driving thru BR it's obvious that I am driving thru a reasonably large urban area, but Lafayette...?

So, because the interstate doesn't drive through the middle of town is a bad thing? That is silly.

Boudin places. We have an embarrassment of riches in that area in Lafayette Parish. Everyone of them is different.

Actually Lafayette has some great international restaurants, off the top of my head there is Indian, Vietnamese, Mexican, Cuban, a neat little Venezuelan place, and of course Italian. Way way more than when I was a kid.

<—— born in BR and lived many years in Lafayette
Lafayette is better by any metric and it’s not close
BR is better 7 days every Fall and that’s it
Hope this helps

Both are tremendous places to watch a game. I wood say it depends on whether you are an STM baw or University High baw. One of the best rivalries in all of Louisiana High School Football.
UHigh has the potential to be really great this year and both will be vying for the title however if STM wins they becum a dynasty.

Coach Chris is from BR, so therefore, BR wins.

BR is redneck - it’s too close to Mississippi, and I don’t mean the gulf coast
(Nothing wrong with rednecks)

Agreed completely also a lot of North Louisiana influence.
Not bad just not what people act like it is. I have no problems with rednecks, coonasses or even urbanites as long as they aren't shiiteheads.

I'm from Central, not BR. Definitely not a redneck.
