Probably happens more often in higher crime areas so they have an excuse to check for other stuff. Look how often on this show that those detainments turn into drugs being found or person having warrants

If this really is live, why do we never see a normal traffic stop where someone gets a simple traffic ticket and they get to go on their way?

Its not live. Its on at least a short delay. Gives them a chance to bleep out f-bombs, last names and SSNs. Plus we’ve seen times where it should’ve been dark but on TV they still had a little daylight
