I do not want to write insurance. I make a good salary being a case manager. I just seriously was asking if any one here is an underwriter and if they can validate that the program I'm starting is a good one.

Do you think the Academy of Life Underwriting is legit and worth it?

I'm not familiar with these classes, most of the people I know who do this take FLMI classes.

That’s not why I was asking! I’m asking because many of my case managers are in Texas. Just was wondering if you and I communicate almost daily and not even know it.

I'm with a small company based out of Utah. So no, we probably don't talk. And I need a dang name change. I haven't lived in TX since 2012.

I've been doing it for 22 years. What's your question?

Eta: ignore the torch, he's clueless on this subject

Eta2: very, very few people succeed long term selling life insurance. Fewer than that actually earn a decent living. My wife and I both are underwriters, work from home, and both make well into 6 figures. Granted, we both have been doing it for 20 years. I have my FLMI, series 6, and series 26. She has FLMI and ALU.

What certification did you get?

I bought the books for The Academy of Life Underwriting. Just want to make sure that one is worth it or if there is a different one that is more valued.

Most everyone starts with FLMI and then goes to ALU. ALU is much harder

Go back and see my prior post as well

Sucks, I used to sell ins in my younger days and I was good at it.

Underwriting is reason I chose to move on.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look more into that one. I need three courses from them anyways to do the certification I was going to persue.

I did ignore him. I have absolutely zero interest in selling insurance.

But you said the same thing that I did retard, start with FLMI. And the "average" underwriter doesn't make six figs.

The average for a Sr is around 75K, I audit and manage several.

This is why you are too dumb to be an actuary like me, go read another APS Baw

Hey, I know this is TD but $75K isn't a bad living.

Sounds like I am on the right path, now time to just crack open the books.

Thanks gusy.

No, the avg Sr underwriter in the industry doesn't make 75k, they make much more than that. Just b/c that's what your piss ant company pays doesn't mean everyone pays that. Don't forget the 10-15k bonuses as well.

Now go back to your cubicle geek.
